The Black Lion Hotel gained its name from Queen Phillipa of Hainault's coat of Arms – the wife of King Edward III. It is one of the oldest historic buildings in Little Walsingham and dates back to 1310. The northern end of the building was built to accommodate King Edward III on his numerous pilgrimages to Walsingham. From the 17 century The Black Lion was a coaching Inn, the oak paneled room to the right of the building hosted the petty sessions until 1861 when they were moved to the Shire Hall. Situated in Friday Market Place next to the Roman Catholic church, with parking in Friday Market Place.
